One Day Tours

Arigna Miners Trail

We recommend this cycle to be taken on an electric bike to take the effort out of the steep climbs on this trail.
There are many historical places of interest along the way including a holy well, megalithic tombs, sweat house and much more. Experience two strikingly different, breath-taking views as you climb over Kilronan Mountain with Lough Meelagh and Kilronan Castle Hotel on one side and the magnificent Lough Allen and Sliabh An Iarainn on the other side. This trail then takes you to Arigna Village, formally a thriving coal mining village, with the last of the Mines closing in 1991 ).
Take a tour of the mines at Arigna Mining Experience to discover and experience the fascinating life of a Coal Miner (payable locally) or just browse in the Souvenir Shop or avail of refreshments in the Cafe. Its downhill all the way to Bellantra Bridge to see the majestic River Shannon flow out of Lough Allen. Cycle back to base along
the Shannon Blueway for a really peaceful trip by the waters edge.
Distance: 39 km round trip.

Lough Allen Trail

A road trip like no other. Cycle at your ease around the majestic Lough Allen surrounded by Sliabh An Iarainn Mountain to the east and Corry and Arigna Mountain to the west. This trail can be taken at your own pace and you can see how easy it is to strike up a conversation with the locals in the many small villages that you pass through.
