More details: Arrive and collect your bike at Electric Bike Trails, where you’ll receive a warm
welcome from Seamus and Eileen. We will set the scene for a wonderfully relaxing Slow Adventure experience with
a guided cycle from Electric Bike Trails in Leitrim Village to The Shed Distillery. We begin the tour by sharing
experiences of the 2023 tornado that swept across our village.
With helmet and bike allocated to each person in your group, Seamus will lead the way and take you on a
captivating journey with tales of the area’s vibrant history and heritage, natural wonders, and diverse flora
and fauna. Keep your eyes open for any hints of the elusive Jackalope!
Cycle on the traffic free trail and let the serenity of the surroundings sink into your soul. Seamus will
highlight historic landmarks, canal features dating back to 1817, and memorable wildlife sightings such as the
colourful Kingfisher or the playful pine martins. Stay alert for the elusive Jackalope whilst cycling along at a
gentle pace! Take your time, slow down, unwind, and savour this leisurely, slow-adventure experience by bike to
connect with nature.
As you approach Acres Lake Floating Boardwalk you will disembark your bike and be encouraged to take a moment to
photograph this unique lake feature. You may spot nesting swans or a family of Mallard Ducks. Depending on the
season, you’ll encounter a breathtaking display of lily pads, prompting you to ponder the hidden world below.
Pedalling your way to The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, park up and begin the next part of your adventure
exploring the curious mind of PJ Rigney and where the ordinary becomes extraordinary. Seamus will guide you to
the visitor centre, where you will check in to tour this award winning distillery. Here, you will meet your tour
ambassador and learn about PJ Rigney’s incredible journey to develop his celebrated Gun Powder Gin and
Drumshanbo Single Pot Sill Irish Whiskey.
During the 40-minute guided distillery tour, you’ll gain insight into the unhurried and meticulous crafting of
gin and whiskey. Discover the artistry and craft that makes Gunpowder Gin and Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish
Whiskey exceptional.
On completion of your distillery tour, savor a refreshing drink at the Honey Badger Bar, marvel at some
incredible cocktail-making by top cocktail makers, discover fascinating items at the Curious Gift Shop, and if
you’re lucky, catch one final glimpse of the elusive Jackalope before saying goodbye to this captivating and
enchanting place.
Return to Electric Bike Trails on your bicycle along the same route as you travelled or arrange a pick up of
your bike at The Shed Distillery, (at no extra cost), you decide.
Essential Information
For the cycle, comfortable, warm clothing and rain gear (just in case) are recommended. Comfortable walking
shoes, without open-toe sandals or flip-flops, are also highly recommended. Helmets will be provided.
Terrain
The majority of cycle trail is traffic-free. The first km is on a footpath from Leitrim Village to the start of
the Blueway. From there, the trail is flat along the canal bank.
