This cycle is a wonderful trek to take either by yourself or with somebody else.
Our electric bikes take the effort out of the steep climbs on this trail but if you’re looking to push yourself, we’ve got regular bikes available too.
There are a lot of historical places to visit along this trail including megalithic tombs, a holy well, an old sweat house and so much more.
While climbing over Kilronan Mountain you’ll be met with breathtaking views of Lough Meelagh and Kilronan Castle Hotel. On the other side of your trail, you can take in the magnificent view of Lough Allen and Sliabh An Iarainn.
The trail then takes you to Arigna Village which was once a village that thrived on coal-mining. Here you can step back into history and take a tour of the mines at Arigna Mining Experience.
After Argina Village, the trail is all downhill towards Bellantra Bridge where you can stare in awe at the beauty of the River Shannon as it flows out of Lough Allen.
Your return cycle is a peaceful journey along the Shannon Blueway where you can cycle back right next to the water’s edge.
